It depends on your priorities. Tuscany and Umbria have large English-speaking expat communities. Puglia and Abruzzo offer lower costs. Le Marche is increasingly popular. Piedmont (where Italopedia is based) offers excellent quality of life and infrastructure.
Southern Italy (Calabria, Sicily, Basilicata) and some interior areas of Abruzzo, Molise, and Sardinia offer the lowest costs of living. Some municipalities offer 1-euro home programs with renovation requirements.
